chandana Sengupta
Eons have flown past, Races flourished and civilizations have turned to dust Messengers of God have come and gone Leaving behind the message of compassion and love Buddha, Jesus, Mohammed opened the doors of the peace and tolerance we morals need to become pure But alas we humans lack the ken, to see the rewards of the brotherhood of men. And when the dark threatened to envelop, You brought love and hope You teachings were sublime, your message a mere hint, Serve and care, for the present rather than worry about what still isn't. You brought with you the ambrosia of humanity, making people drunk on the wine of service and pity You were a beacon whose light brought the drifted home, whose touch brought out love and pity from a stone. The oppressed, the deprived and the forgotten were blessed with your compassionate touch The enervated, the frail and the wingless, Found strength and security in your heart. The rich, the poor, the lepers and the outcasts, all have been enriched by the strength of your love Your eyes never saw any differences, religion, casts, nor creed never put a veil on your senses. In this battle stricken and war torn world you took it upon yourself to wipe every-ones tears You were proof of the existence of God, who had sent you to comfort us and to soothe our fears. O mother, O mother grant us the strength and the wisdom, that we may have the fortitude and dedication To keep serving and loving the week, And that we may never lose track of our mission.
